Baby Proofing!!! 10/10

We had quite the scare on 10/10.  It was the last day that Craig's parents were with us.  Craig decided he would work from home waking up at 5 and getting done at 11.  It's not that he doesn't have vacay hours, it's that he's got about 80 hours of work to do a week and deadlines.  It sucks pretty much.  I had a really crappy morning and I feel so selfish looking back on the morning.  We had plans to go to Costco and Best Buy and pretty much doing things around town.  With those plans, it was time for the girls to get ready for the day.  Jaycee is a great big helper and she LOVES helping her little sister.  I was having "issues" this morning-as some of you know about (will post later about that) and Craig and I were on my bed talking and him consoling me that everything was going to be okay.  At the same time Jaycee and Hadi were in our bathroom (steps away) getting ready to go in the shower.  I had turned it on and in the process of getting Hadi's clothes off.  Jaycee yelled out that she took off her clothes and helped her get in.  Craig and I looked at each other thinking how awesome it is that our 4 year old loves helping and not thinking much about it.  The next minutes changed QUICK!!!  All the sudden I hear a thump and a belted scream/cry.  This happens often at our home.  They love each other so much that sometimes they need to fight about it (that's what I say haha) Craig on the other hand is hardly home so every scream/cry is a sudden rush.  He ran in and screamed "Amanda!!!"  OH NO!  Jaycee was out of the shower and poor Hadi was naked in the shower with blood everywhere.  I didn't want to look I just wanted to hold & comfort and breathe before we all freak out.  I stripped my clothes off so fast and grabbed my little Hadi and held her.  From what we're thinking, Jaycee got out to go pee in the toilet and Hadi wanted to follow resulting in her slipping and hitting her mouth on the "seats" in our shower.  Jaycee was out of the shower, Hadi in the shower and no blood or anything outside but on and running down the seat.

As I'm holding her comforting, Jaycee is freaking out..."mom, mom, there's blood. Mom!"  She was so worried and concerned for her little sister.  I told her to go get a washcloth to clean up and a cup of water for Hadi to get a drink.  Anything to keep her calm and out of the way.  Craig snuck a peek in her mouth and said, "her tooth is gone"  I remember looking down at the drain trying to process everything.  As Hadi's head was nestled against my shoulder I could feel something sharp.  By this point I was ready to process everything, cleaning up the blood and ready to look.  Sure enough, there was her tooth-not down the drain but clear up and not just straight up but also projecting out resulting in a huge hole/rip.  This was bad!!!  If it came out or just went straight up I wouldn't have taken her to the dr because I know enough from my dental exp. that the tooth will fall down or the hole would heal.  This was bad though.  Not only was the tooth jammed up but the hole made me really concerned.  I also knew the ER wasn't the place to go or a general dentist knowing they would refer to a Pediatric Dentist.  I've heard amazing reviews from the one in the same building as our family general dentist so we called them.  Also was nice knowing 3 doctors there are LDS.  Not that it should matter.  They could get us in at 2pm and right now it was 12:45.  Craig was a nervous wreck.  We've never had anything happen to our kids that we had to rush to the dr so we both were anxious for the time to come.  I hurried and got ready and mentioned to Craig that him & his dad should give Hadley May a blessing.  I was so grateful that he was here to do that for us and also that we have the power of the Priesthood here on earth today for times like these.  I'm convinced still today that is why everything went smoothly.

We got to the office, filled out paper work and we went back.  Hadi isn't even 2 yet so obviously she's never been to the dentist and let alone cooperating for them.  They had me lay her in the chair and she was a little hesitant but with her blankie and watching Bolt I think calmed her.  She loves doggies.  It broke my heart to see her have to deal with this.  Craig was having a hard time too and kinda looked teary eyed.
The assistant was AMAZING and dealt so good with her.  Hadi was the perfect patient and would open her mouth when she asked and even was able to get a perfect xray.  Dr. Josh came in and explained what our options were before actually looking knowing that this could be traumatic and crying & screaming so better to talk before he looked.  1-the tooth would fall back in place and all the details about that; which then we would constantly have to watch for infections, most likely need a root canal and would probably die.  2-the tooth pulled        I knew all about both options and was grateful for my knowledge in this so it all came like first nature where as for Craig this was all new and still so shocking.  He got in her mouth and looked and sure enough, the tooth needed to come out.  The root had no chance to survive and the tooth wouldn't fall back into place because of it's position & the hole there.  He then started to explain what would happen.  She would need to use a papoose board since she was so little.  I knew what they were but also knew Craig was clueless to most of this.  As Dr. Josh was explaining it all I looked over at Craig and said "You're going to cry" and he lost it.  It was the sweetest moment.  He explained that she would get laughing gas, a shot and then have it pulled.  There would be a "team" and you can imagine that a little girl not only 2 would probably scream and wiggle so of course they had to keep her still.  Only one of us could stay and Craig quickly opted to go out in the waiting room.  ***I didn't take pics of the pre-tooth pulling or the papoose board because it was too sad to see  :(
Here is a pic of a papoose board

I had no idea how she was going to react but I had a calm feeling the whole time and so did she.  I lifted her up and in came the board and she got strapped in.  She was in a little cacoon and I was glad they let her blankie be in it with her so she could hold it.  She couldn't move at all as it straps in everywhere.  I went and sat in the corner because I was feeling a little light headed.  They started her on a little laughing gas and still she was so calm.  Hadn't cried, hadn't moved a muscle. The hygienist came in to numb her up.  They were so sweet, soft spoken, calm and patient.  She was quiet and then as doing her shot he let out a little, innocent, sweet voice "ooowie"  It was the saddest thing.  I knew that it probably would feel better now though knowing all the pain she was feeling was now numb.  The dr came in a few minutes later and within a couple seconds, the tooth was out.  She didn't cry, scream, nothing.  She sat there still and opened and did as they told her.  As the dr was sitting there holding guaze on the hole he looked over at me and said "she is part little girl, part goddess!"  I agree  :)   After another minute he looked over again "she's asleep"  Awe.  He left and I quickly got up and sat next to her.  I just wanted to hold and once again comfort her.  She woke up as she got unstrapped, picked out a toy and we were done.  She didn't like the guaze in her mouth so she had to just let the bleeding happen although it was mostly done.
I wanted to get her a special toy for being so good and we continued to Costco as originally planned.  She got some ice cream and was back to her normal Hadi self.
Here's a pic of her smiling while eating her ice cream. You can see how swollen it is but she still is happy and smiling.  Kids are amazing!
Jaycee loves to take pictures of her holding toys whenever we're at stores so Hadi had to copy her.  I wanted to get this for her so bad but she already has so many dolls and getting 2 more in the next couple months.  I forgot the wipes in the car and only had napkins to wipe her mouth but she HATED IT so in essence you can see blood around her mouth.  So sad.
She did end up getting a little toy phone for being so good and we got grips for the shower!!!  Both showers!!!
Grandma left $20 for the girls to get toys so the next day we spent over an hour at Walmart picking out what they wanted.  They both picked out little adirondack chairs, Jaycee got a little doodle puppy and Hadi a toy toaster for the kitchen.
Here's a picture the morning gma & papa left-it still looks swollen

One week later we've dealt with a little more blood-this girl needs to slow down!!!
She points to her mouth and says Ouch so we've done a little Tylenol.
The tooth fairy came and the tooth got hidden in our closet, which Jaycee found and questioned why the tooth fairy didn't take it.  I hurried and said she left a note explaining she wanted Hadi to see her tooth when she gets big.
Lots of soft foods and noticed she adjusts how she eats now chewing mostly with her molars.
I showed Hadi her tooth and said "oh no, let's put it back" She opened up her mouth big as if it really would go in.  It was funny.
A cute little card & gift from our neighbor Xander for Little Miss Hadi to feel better.  Such a sweet heart.
Lots of people at church asking questions and wanting to see
We thought the pain & trauma would help her be done sucking her thumb---nope!!  Now just more room for it!
She's perfect and you know, this is what sets her apart.  Who needs 2 front teeth anyway!!!
